The distance from the needle entry point to the outer edge of the foot is exactly 1/5" (5 mm), acting as a built-in guide for spacing echo-quilting lines. Because the presser foot hops up and down in sync with the needle, it prevents fabric drag and allows you to clear thick seams and batting with ease.
