Pressure & Tension
The Baby Lock Splendor gives you easy, precise control with its chain/cover stitch needle tension dial and presser foot pressure dial. The chain/cover stitch needle tension dial, located on the upper left side of the machine, adjusts tension for all three needle positions at once—ideal for fine-tuning stitch balance across different fabrics and techniques. With a standard setting of “5,” it can be adjusted from 0–9 to achieve looser or tighter stitches, simply by aligning your chosen number with the front indicator. Below, the presser foot pressure dial lets you adapt fabric feeding to suit your material. While factory-set for most projects, you can decrease pressure for thick layers or increase it for thin, slippery fabrics to ensure smooth, even stitching. Together, these intuitive controls let you tailor every seam for professional results.
Cover Stitch Chaining Off
The Baby Lock Splendor’s chain-off feature makes finishing and starting seams smooth and efficient. When you complete a seam, the machine forms a neat thread chain off the fabric, preventing unraveling and ensuring your stitches stay secure. For overlock stitches, simply guide the fabric and thread to the back to create the chain, then trim it to your desired length using the built-in side cutter. For chain or cover stitches, adjust your settings for optimal results, then guide the chain straight back for a clean finish without tugging. This quick, no-fuss process lets you move from one seam to the next with ease, keeping your workflow uninterrupted and your projects looking polished.
Fine Tune Dials
The Baby Lock Splendor puts precision at your fingertips with its trio of fine-tuned dials. The cutting blade lock dial lets you quickly disengage the blade—just turn it clockwise until “LOCK” appears on top—perfect for non-cutting techniques like decorative stitching. Just below, the stitch length/rolled hem dial offers easy control over stitch lengths from 0.75mm to 4mm, with clearly marked ranges for standard overlock work or rolled edges and narrow hems, so you can adapt to everything from delicate sheers to sturdy seams. Above it, the stitch width dial adjusts between two ranges depending on which needle is in use, ensuring optimal support and finish for fabrics of all weights. VERTICAL NEEDLE PENETRATION
